Weekend Highlights: Farmer’s Market, Cabbage, and Dinosaurs!

I am really sad that the weekend is already over, but here are some of the highlights. We made a trip to the farmer’s market. This bunch of veggies was around $15–more than we normally spend, but those 3 zucchinis added up to over 5 lbs!

I also chopped up some cabbage and set it all up to turn itself into sauerkraut.

AND (the best part) I found this amazing DVD set for under $10! So, maybe I am the only one excited about the DVDs, but I’m ok with that 🙂

Weekend Highlights: Veggie Haul and Road Trippin’

I used some vacation days to take a long weekend, and it was definitely worth it. We got to take a little road trip to see some friends that we haven’t seen in years. It was, however, cold! Moving north is NOT on my list of things to do.

Before heading out, I did stock up the fridge with some veggies from the farmer’s market.

And, I had some more coffee/coconut oil emulsion.

Then, road trip! Illinois is very boring to drive through.

Michigan is also boring, but with snow.

We packed a full cooler for a one-night trip because it can be really difficult to find food on the road. Here’s a picture of the (cold) roasted sweet potato/butternut squash, avocado, and canned salmon that we ate in a Starbucks parking lot 🙂

Weekend Highlights: Coffee, Snow, and French Fries

It was a typical busy weekend for us, but I grabbed some photos of the highlights to share.

coffee. always coffee.

coffee. always coffee.

We also made a quick stop by the Farmer’s market on Saturday morning. I love our local market. They always have a decent selection and loads of friendly people. The one thing I wish is that there was a farmer’s market open on Sunday. I realize that would be hard to come by in the midwest, but I’m just never ready to do my shopping until Sunday.

And then it snowed! We got about 5-6 inches in a 2-hour span on Saturday night. The weather forecast was for a “chance of snow,” and I guess that, technically, they were right. It is already starting to melt, so I’m sure it won’t be around for much longer.

where did that come from?

where did that come from?

Today was my “cheat day,” so we headed to Red Robin for bottom-less fries and gluten-free burgers. It was so freaking good.
